Responsibilities

  • Please note, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Agency is operating in a maximum telework posture for all telework ready employees occupying a telework eligible position.
  • Serves as the Administrative Support Assistant with independent responsibility to carry out complete administrative processes.
  • Utilizes a variety of computer applications/software programs to produce text documents, maintain spreadsheets/tables, and finalize charts/slide shows.
  • Performs day-to-day practical and technical aspects of office admin, to include suspense and record mgmt, time and attendance, travel, supply and file mgmt, and performs program and staff support work for these and other administrative activities.
  • Receives office visitors, screens calls, maintains the Manager?s calendar, assists in travel for the office, and schedules appointments.
  • Establishes and maintains records and files for office in accordance with prescribed directive, modifying basic system as necessary to accommodate special situations.

    Qualifications

    To qualify for an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) your resume and supporting documentation must support:

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
    • Typing various reports, editing documents, and extracting data using a personal computer and numerous computer programs and word processing equipment, including Microsoft Office applications.
    • Answering phone calls and greeting visitors, including answering basic inquiries.
    • Maintaining multiple calendars and scheduling meetings for multiple personnel.
    • Making travel arrangements using automated travel systems.
    Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
