Key Responsibilities:

A Lifecycle Engineerwill support and lead product lifecycle design projects, complex technical tasks, and engineering process improvements. As critical members of our Operations team, Lifecycle Engineers actively support and sustain production at Abiomed by working with Engineers, operators, and suppliers to strengthen our ability to manufacture and deliver high quality, life-saving devices. Principle Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with other Teams and conduct engineering builds in our production environment to support design and process qualification
  • Support and lead design for manufacturing projects and manufacturing automation projects
  • Assist fabrication of prototypes with support from technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers
  • Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM)
  • Prepare design reviews and present to peers and review team
  • Organize and communicate project plans and status using software tools (MS Project, Wrike, etc)
  • Manage self for timely completion of tasks per plan with support from supervisor and senior team members

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

Education:

  • BS in Engineering or directly related scientific field, MS Preferred
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience desired; Experience with medical devices preferred

Experience and Skills:

  • Familiarity with FEA and with analytical software preferred (Ansys, MathCad, MiniTab & Matlab), as well as CAD software (SolidWorks)
  • Knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, extrusion and adhesives preferred.
  • Hands-on capabilities, with knowledge of manual & automated miniature component assembly techniques.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Ability to prioritize & complete tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • May require up to 10% travel – US & EU
