JP Morgan’s Finance & Business Management Control Management Group are responsible for setting standards and providing the tools and infrastructure that ensures the Corporate and Investment Bank has a seamless front to back control environment deployed in the management and mitigation of the Business’s inherent operating risks.

The Business Control Manager (’BCM’) will join the EMEA Regional BCM team for the Investment and Corporate Bank (ICB) in Frankfurt and will be responsible for providing sound governance of and overseeing the control environment for the ICB Business (Coverage, Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity and Debt Capital Markets Origination) in Euro Economic Area (EEA), and support the EMEA and global ICB Controls team. The BCM will partner with the Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, Operations and Audit functions aligned to and supporting ICB.

The BCM will work with the lead BCMs and the EEA business leaders and partners to support and strengthen governance and systems that identify, quantify, manage and monitor risk at the most granular level and establish risk tolerances and risk management procedures and tools in consultation with the business and relevant partners. The BCM will run the infrastructure to support the regional ICB governance framework including the Monthly ICB Regional Control forum. The BCM will also support the oversight of the end to end system of controls that mitigate risk and the program of thematic reviews, risk analysis and control deep dives that continuously manages and reduces the Business’s residual risk profile.

The role will be a mix of supporting the BAU activity of the team and contribution to the change management agenda.

On a day to day basis the BCM will be responsible for:
  • ICB Business key control monitoring and support the lead regional BCM to:
  • Provide guidance and support execution for the identification, assessment, monitoring and uplift of risk at business, Legal entity and locational level
  • Leverage metrics and analysis to determine current status
  • Review, challenge and test existing controls
  • Support the control agenda
  • Maintain risk and control documentation.
  • Governance and Analysis
  • Run the infrastructure to support the regional ICB governance framework including the Monthly ICB Regional Control Forum, Monthly Banking Senior Manager update and periodic Senior Business Head Control Updates
  • Oversight and administrative support for regional governance including managing the agenda, liaison with business and functional representatives, recording actions and ensuring appropriate follow up
  • Produce, present and maintain materials which provide clear insight and analysis into the current risk issues and trends relevant to the business
  • Develop and enhance the existing governance around the business including new policies and procedures, process enhancement and building and maintaining a robust and flexible governance framework
  • LOB controls oversight and governance
  • Support critical business control forums and processes (in conjunction with lead BCMs), to help to drive agenda to ensure forums and processes effectively cover critical operating and business risk
  • Participate in CORE process, including testing, for ICB business and EEA LEs
  • Participate in regional and global controls initiatives.
Qualifications / Key Skills
  • Vice President
  • Minimum of 2 years Investment Banking experience in CAO, Corporate or Operations or in risk and control functions.
  • Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint ability
  • Strong Business Analysis skills
  • Experience with data mining and analysis
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; comfortable interacting with cross-LOB partners
  • Good influencing skills
  • Good Project Management skills
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements and new concepts to the existing business model/environment
  • Self-starter, independent worker, and ability to multitask
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills; detail oriented
