Our Compliance FunctionCompliance plays a critical role in the successful execution of the firm’s compliance mission. The Compliance function ensures the development and maintenance of a strong compliance culture by developing and maintaining rules that govern our business globally. Compliance teams work closely with the Business, Legal, Risk, and Audit to identify, measure and monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations and functions to provide expertise on regulatory compliance matters, assess and measure compliance and related risks, and monitor and test the adequacy of the firm’s compliance control environment.
LOB Compliance within the Frankfurt Compliance Team
The role sits within the Frankfurt Compliance team and works closely with the EMEA Line of Business Compliance teams (part of the broader EMEA Compliance Department) as well as support regional and global compliance initiatives and programs. The role will support the implementation of the LOB Compliance agenda within J.P. Morgan AG (JPMAG) as well as supporting oversight and coordination of implementation within its branches. This will necessarily require strong interaction with regional practices to drive consistency and ensure JPMAG considerations are adequately covered as a part of activities supported regionally. The role will report into the Head LOB Compliance of JPMAG.

Wholesale Payments
Wholesale Payments is the global line of business in J.P. Morgan, under which the divisions Treasury Services and Global Trade in J.P. Morgan AG are integrated. It enables J.P. Morgan to offer integrated, comprehensive payments, financing and liquidity solutions to our clients across industry segments and markets, covering a suite of working capital and risk management solutions.
Securities Services
Securities Services operates a Depositary and Custody business to German clients and has a Depositary bank licence to offer these services in Germany.
As the regulatory obligations of JPMAG grow with the business so does our need to manage the open and active dialogue. The role requires the building of relationships with key colleagues within all stakeholder groups especially front office, product development, control functions and business management.
Key Responsibilities Of This Role Will Involve
- Providing Compliance subject matter expertise for legal entity specific Compliance questions and partner with regional and global compliance functions as appropriate
- Implementing and updating policies, procedures and the local Compliance Manual when necessary
- Reviewing regulations, conducting gap analyses and working with divisional and regional partners to develop policies and procedures within the legal entity and across other group legal entities as necessary
- Supporting the execution of a Compliance Monitoring & Testing Plan which reflects the outcome of the Risk Assessment and is aligned and supported by regional and global activities.
- Support in ensuring timely issue management for JPMAG and its branches in line with the regional and global Issue Management program
- Support in coordinating and drafting with the support of the Compliance team, the annual Compliance Report for JPMAG
- Support in preparing regular, annual and ad-hoc reports with the support of the Compliance team for the Management Board and the Supervisory Board
- Support in developing and implementing MIS for a comprehensive senior management and board report in line and in partnership with regional and global initiatives.
- Conducting in person training regarding regulatory and corporate policies and procedures as well as partnering with regional and global teams regarding legal entity specifics for centrally hosted trainings as appropriate
- Working in partnership with the Compliance team and other members of the firm
- Relevant background and experience in a banking or risk management environment, or financial services from a legal, audit, compliance or regulatory perspective
- Good knowledge of key financial services regulation, BaFin Circulars and EU regulations and ability to translate them into operational/process requirements with a focus on PSD2 and MaDepot
- Strong team player willing to work closely across and with multiple teams where inter-dependencies will be strong and ongoing; can do attitude with the willingness to help others in the team and external to the team
- Willingness to go beyond the day to day to deliver excellence
- Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and interpret requirements
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into comprehensible messages for a range of audiences and levels
- Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organised manner
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a commitment to ensuring that information provided to the firm’s regulators is of a high standard
- Ability to consider the regulators’ position and understand, anticipate and react positively to their requirements and demands
- Fluent in German and English
