Purpose of this role

Based in Athora’s Wiesbaden office, this role offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to work as part of the Athora Germany Investment Office.

Our Investment Office in Germany is responsible for Investment Monitoring, Investment Reporting, Investment Outsourcing Management and the implementation of corresponding projects and initiatives. The function works closely with the CFO, our external investment managers and Group Investment Office colleagues to ensure that investments made meet internal and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, the person supports the optimization of processes as well as the implementation of new technical platforms and structures and takes responsibility in project management activities.

Key Contribution Areas
  • Pro-active engagement with Athora Germany asset managers and with Athora Group Investment Office (GIO) to define and implement the SAA
  • Preparation of investment and hedging proposal for validation by German Management Boards
  • Monitoring and steering of Athora’s investment managers in particular with regard to regulatory items like Derivative instruments, Private equity and Private debts
  • Steering and monitoring of liquidity management and reporting
  • Coordinating external partners and other investment stakeholders
  • Managing projects of the area
  • Works under limited direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions

  • Experience working within risk management or investment management in an international business environment

Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skill Required
  • Solid knowledge of Athora’s asset classes (derivative structures, fixed income, private equity, credit and private debt) with regard to German life insurance regulation and local gap requirements
  • More than 7 years experience with investment management. Ideally in a German Life Insurance company
  • Strong project management skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Business fluent Englisch
