Due to rapid organizational growth over the last two years, we are expanding our Finance team to keep pace with the increasing workload and complexities of our operations. As part of this strategic expansion, an accounting position has become available. This role is crucial to maintain the efficiency and accuracy of our financial processes, ensure all payments are executed correctly, and support the Finance department’s overall operations.

The selected candidate will join a dedicated team of four, contributing to both routine accounting activities and the continuous improvement of our financial processes. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented financial professional looking to grow in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, while playing a significant role in the financial management of our expanding organization.

Responsibilities and duties:

Invoice processing and monitoring:

  • Review, verify, and process incoming invoices.
  • Ensure that all invoices are coded to the correct general ledger accounts, cost centers, and locations.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and communicate with procurement and vendors to maintain accurate records.

Travel expense management:

  • Process travel expense reports in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure timely reimbursement to employees for out-of-pocket expenses.

Monthly closing activities:

  • Participate in month-end closing procedures, including preparing and recording journal entries.
  • Assist in reconciling accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices are accounted for and properly posted.

Bank and credit card reconciliation:

  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts to ensure accurate and timely reflection of the company’s financial position.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the general ledger.

Audit support:

  • Provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits.

Continuous improvement projects:

  • Play a major role in identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable.

Special or ad hoc assignments:

  • Perform special projects or assignments as directed by the Accounting Manager or other senior finance leadership.

Procedure and process improvement:

  • Support the creation and improvement of working instructions and desktop procedures for processing vendor invoices.
  • Ensure that best practices are followed and that processes align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and skills:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in both German and English to accommodate communication with a diverse set of vendors and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar financial role.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel highly valued.
  • Experience with Oracle or NetSuite ERP systems, facilitating smooth integration with existing financial processes.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
