The Role

Design, develop and troubleshoot specialized equipment to characterize and validate lithium ion cells, battery packs and components under various electrical, mechanical and thermal loads.

Deploy and optimize test equipment to create a world class cell testing laboratory from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Own design, commissioning and operationalization of test systems for Cell Test Labs
  • Execute or manage mechanical and electrical design as well as controls design (LabView)
  • Drive equipment specification, requirement definition and acceptance testing
  • Ensure compliance (CE certification) and safety of equipment (risk assessments & buy-offs) and associated test processes
  • Ensure equipment is functional (perform maintenance) and efficient (create manuals, SOPs & trainings) and be accountable for it.
  • Support hands-on testing if needed
  • Quickly resolve urgent test system needs by hands-on fabricating and commissioning equipment
  • What You’ll Bring

  • Mechanical aptitude, fabrication skills, machining, wiring, general electronics, and debugging
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes and demonstrated ability to create products
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, Catia V5/V6 or 3DX experience is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Experience with data acquisition systems for thermal, electrical, and mechanical sensors is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Ability to understand, test, and troubleshoot complicated systems
  • Background in electrical, mechanical, process, automotive, automation, aerospace, chemical engineering OR computer engineering, physics or similar with hands-on mindset and experience. Only software engineering does not suffice.
  • Candidates with profound hands-on experience in analysis of safety failures, fire/burn testing, explosives, military testing, hazardous material handling, nuclear technology or fields of similar complexity but w/o academic degrees are encouraged to apply.
