About the role

The VP, Trading Systems Development is a leadership role in Trailstone. We are seeking a hands-on, senior high-performance trading systems expert to lead a core development team tasked with building our next-generation distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant, global, trading systems. You will be responsible for evolving our market trading systems strategy towards the frontier, incorporating modern practices. Additionally, you will be responsible for growing and leading a team with a diverse skillset. You are also expected to work alongside your team, we are all "player-coaches" at Trailstone.

You must have strong, hands-on technical expertise in a variety of technologies including C#, various JavaScript UI frameworks, SQL, AWS, Docker-based container architectures as well as the proven ability to develop robust, scalable solutions for our clients.

What will you do?

• Solve real-world complex problems with effective and innovative technology solutions
• Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Product Management, and technologists to develop effective solutions to address business drivers
• Act as a player/coach hiring for and leading a team of software engineers as well as providing thought leadership and leading best practice solutions for the team.
• Take lead in driving a culture of high quality, innovation, and incremental experimentation.
• Provide strong thought leadership and set processes that lead to good implementation architecture.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and spearhead coding best practices to ensure product quality and optimal performance and scalability
• Lead a global team that develops streamlined, scalable, and efficient multi-asset trading and execution systems

What do you need?

• Significant experience working in formal engineering environments and deep experience working on and leading complex real-time trading systems projects
• Significant team management experience
• Extensive working knowledge of C#, Python, and JavaScript UI frameworks
• Expert level knowledge of SQL, including performance tuning for large datasets
• Extensive experience in maintaining trading systems over long periods of time
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or a related technical field
• Commodities, Fixed Income, or Equities Trading experience, a plus
