Responsibilities
  • Designing and implementing data pipelines across all product lines and functional units. Data engineers are responsible for designing and building data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from various sources (SAP, ERP, ADA, FAO, etc.) into a data warehouse or data lake (AN Data Hub)
  • Building and maintaining data infrastructure which required for storing, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data (demographic, transactional, behavioral customer data, market data and data from experimental data)
  • Ensuring that data quality and accuracy of the data is on reporting standards, complete, and consistent from all sources. Also, the implementation of data validation and quality checks needs to be organized with BX Team “Data Architecture”
  • Optimizing data systems for monitoring (quality and completeness) and optimizing data systems (CRM/ERP) to ensure that they are performing efficiently and effectively
  • Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and to ensure that the data is accessible and available for analysis and predictions
  • Ensuring that data security measures are implemented according the Evonik IT Governance and Security Policy to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches
  • Overall, the core tasks of a data engineer involve designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure required for storing, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data, while ensuring data quality, accuracy, and security
Requirements
  • Masters degree in data-related technical field (depending on the functional location of the data engineer, this can be e.g. Chemical Engineering, Statistics or Computer Science) or other Bachelors degree and equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience with Python / Spark and an understanding of agile ways of working as well as in database architecture and interactions, preferably including expertise in SQL
  • Expertise in using ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools
  • Experience on Data storage and cloud infrastructure to drive continuous improvement in regards to our data infrastructure / landscape
  • A growth mindset, we want to upskill you in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, MongoDB and Power BIs as the key tools of our data platform
  • Strong understanding of data structures including time series and tabular data and demonstratable proficiency in creating and / or using common data structures
  • Experience of working with users to understand the problem statement, design, build and debug solutions
