Your role
The ability to easily find, access, and analyze data across an organization is key for every modern business to be able to efficiently make decisions, optimize processes, and to create new business models.
As the Data Governance Lead (all genders) in the Healthcare Digital & Data - Data Governance & Architecture team your role is to establish harmonized data governance policies across all Merck Healthcare business functions in alignment with corporate frameworks. To this end, you will define and evolve a lean governance process focused on enabling business users to deliver their data use-cases quickly and with confidence, while staying compliant. In addition, you and your team will act as the central team of Data Stewards that ensure that necessary metadata is well-maintained, proper access policies are in place, and the data is integrated into the Merck data model. For the latter, you will work closely with subject matter experts and functional master data management teams in order to manage a harmonized, controlled vocabulary of business terms.

Who you are

  • M.Sc. or PhD in a data related field such as Computer Science
  • Agile mindset, a spirit of initiative, and desire to work hands-on together with your team
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a data related field, at least 3+ years of experience in data governance related topics
  • Passionate to create value for our patients by unlocking the potential of data
  • Knowledge of the FAIR principles and their effective implementation
  • Experience in leading small to medium-sized teams
  • Prior experience with Data Catalog software such as Informatica Axon/EDC, Collibra, Alation
  • Knowledge of ontologies, related W3C technologies (e.g. RDF, RDFS, SKOS, OWL), and graph databases
  • Familiarity with the data domains covering the pharma value chain (e.g. research, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial)
  • Experience in operating within regulated context (e.g. GxP) and working with PII data
  • Hands-on experience in coding, working with data, advanced analytics techniques, and big data infrastructure is strongly favorable
