Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:


The overall objective of the Corporate Tax department is to create value for the global enterprise, business units, and shareholders by maximizing corporate profitability through minimizing overall tax burden while executing and directing compliance to conform with all legal frameworks in preserving the Company’s reputation and integrity.


Within Corporate Tax, the Transfer Pricing (“TP”) department is responsible for setting the group’s TP strategies and policies and for monitoring compliance by the group entities with such strategies and policies. The department provides direction on the pricing of all intra-group transactions such as sale and purchase of goods and services, sale and licensing of intangibles and provision of group financing. The department supports the group entities with respect to their local TP compliance, international tax, TP audits and appropriate TP risk management.


As Manager Transfer Pricing (m/f/d) you will report to the Senior Director International Tax to support on Transfer Pricing matters within the group, including liaising with various business partners within the Finance organization. The role will have a strong analytical as well as advisory focus with day-to-day involvement in overseeing TP compliance and ensuring communication incl. business partnering, advice and training on TP matters within the group.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage the TP compliance of adidas group entities (e.g. preparation of TP documentation reports, notifications and other TP submissions); this includes monitoring of timelines and the performance of external advisors supporting the local TP documentation process in the assigned regions, planning and initiating corrective actions where needed, driving the preparation and maintenance of TP relevant documents
  • Act as well-established and recognized tax / TP expert for assigned regions and functional areas; this includes business partnering with relevant business / finance functions, assessing tax / TP implications and formulating solutions while keeping in mind broader business objectives
  • Manage the annual preparation and analysis of the group’s Country-by-Country Report
  • Monitor and analyze changes in the international tax and TP framework and TP rules in various jurisdictions and the implications for the adidas group
  • Check the outcomes of operational transfer pricing calculations, initiate corrective actions and implement improved controls where required
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to improve the group’s tax / TP position or tax / TP related processes, facilitating fact based and informed decision making. On-boarding/persuading stakeholders and ensuring a smooth change management process.
  • Contribute to business projects, including through the evaluation of tax / TP implications of new business models and new supply chain processes, provision of expert advice on tax / TP matters to cross-functional project teams and supporting the planning and implementation of business model changes
  • Act as a main point of contact from the tax function on business projects. Ensuring subject matter tax specialists (eg VAT or tax accounting) are informed and involved when required
  • Support TP audits in various jurisdictions (together with Director TP / Senior Director International Tax), including the identification of tax audit risk areas, analysis of audit issues and preparation of audit responses, managing the involvement of external advisors and collaboration with local tax / finance teams
  • Communicate / present complex factual or tax matters clearly and concisely in verbal and written form, including to stakeholders with little or no tax experience
  • Maintain and update training materials, policies and process descriptions
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the group, especially within the Finance organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Broad theoretical and practical general tax, TP and / or international tax experience gained in tax department of large multinational or international consultancy firm
  • Comprehensive business understanding and expert knowledge of international tax and TP regulations
  • A good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm, prioritizing workload with attention to detail
  • Experience with SAP applications or similar
  • Strong competence in use of standard MS Office tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Business English (written and spoken)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:


  • University / Master’s degree in Business Administration / Finance / Accounting / Economics or similar, preferably with focus on tax / Transfer Pricing
  • 4-6 years of relevant working experience in international tax / Transfer Pricing
