Key Account Manager, Acute Care

Territory: Nürnberg/Erlangen/Würzburg


This is what you will do:

The Key Account Manager Acute Care will develop commercial relationships and value-adding activities in collaboration with key decision makers to maximize access to products within key accounts/hospitals identified in the region. The position requires a strong business acumen, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively within a complex hospital account environment.


You will be responsible for:

  • Establish and maintain valuable business relationships with different key decision makers, specialties and functions in priority accounts
  • Develop insights-based account plans for all top accounts. Account plans include key decision maker prioritization and in-depth situational analysis i.e. SWOT, barriers and drivers, patient journey and activity planning
  • Set clear strategic objectives (i.e. listing in hospitals/SOP inclusion, treatment experience) and develop account value propositions (e.g. commercial events) based on regional situational analysis and customer insights
  • Lead development and implementation of customer-focused and patient-centered tactics and activities within the territory in cross-functional partnership with internal stakeholders and teams, such as Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Patient Advocacy
  • Self-dependent planning, organization and execution of multiple digital channels and activities for optimal customer experience and engagement
  • Collaborate with Alexion Market Access experts to support local hospital funding processes i.e. NUB
  • Timely and complete reporting and presentation of account plans including KPIs to senior positions and accurate maintenance of the CRM database

You will need to have:

  • 5+ years of Sales and hospital sales experience in the assigned territory/accounts
  • Experience launching new medicines in the hospital space
  • Demonstrated success in securing hospital formularies for complex products
  • Track record of achievement managing sales territory in a highly specialized area of medicine – neurology, thrombosis, haematology or stroke experience strongly preferred
  • Track record in working across functions to ensure local payer and access needs are met including but not limited to working with hospital pharmacy leadership or regional commissioners / finance executives
  • Influential presentation style with demonstrated ability to uncover and address customer needs and effectively manage customer concerns and questions
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency, well-organized, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and business acument
  • Fluent in German and English

  • established industry network and relationships within territory
