Controller SME Controls VP

Job Purpose:

New role will be responsible for German Finance Controls environment and related communication with regional SMEs on a day-to-day basis.

New Role will be involved in and lead new and ongoing projects and will also Support German Country Controllers.

Job Background/Context:

The role reports to Country Controller within German broker dealer vehicle CGME and will have a Matrix reporting to UK Sub- Cluster Control Lead.

The role works closely coordinating activities with other Finance areas both locally, our service centres, and regional Control Leads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Germany will be the European Broker-Dealer Hub as part of Citis Brexit Strategy which will be supervised by ECB.

• The role will also support UK Sub- Cluster Controls Lead and ensure high quality of control environment in Germany Finance.

• Improve financial controls environment for the German legal entities and maintain regular and effective communication across Finance and other units in the organization locally, regionally and within cluster

• Coordinate Quarterly Management Controls Assessment (MCA) and Annual Risk Assessment process for the Germany Finance.

• Lead and drive targeted controls reviews incl. identification and escalation of detected gaps.

• Work with senior leadership partners on strategic planning, establishing guidelines and implementing controls.

• Assist with the implementation of controls policies and procedures

• Assist country controllers in coordination of Internal Audit reviews for Germany Finance.

• Involvement in regulatory queries and Germany governance projects.

• Representing Finance on various meetings and committees (such as Regulatory Reporting Governance Committee).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications:

• Qualified Accountant (preferred).

• University/College degree, specialized in Accounting/Finance/Economics

• Ability to develop innovative, yet pragmatic solutions and approaches that "fit" the environment.

• Information gathering, organization & analytics

• Analytical thinking.

• Team player and very good interactive communication skills.

• A pro-active decision maker who has the ability to champion Finance initiatives to successful conclusion.

Experience/Knowledge:

• Understanding of and practical experience with Finance processes

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Finance Organization

• Fluent in English, German language skills would be an advantage.

• Experience in a global company, working with regional leadership and matrix organization structure

• Experience working with off-shored teams and outsourced activities an advantage

Skills:

• Very good analytical skills, ability to learn new systems and analytics software

• Self-starter who proactively seeks to improve existing controls and streamline processes both from a tactical short-term viewpoint.

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, attention to detail and the ability to meet reporting and project deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal skills in being able to deal with a range of senior/junior staff across a number of disciplines.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
