Systems Engineer – ISP – camera processing
This vacancy is within BL Edge Processing, Systems Engineering Automotive Edge Processing Product Line.
Responsibilities
- Specify next generation IP (HW and SW) solutions for Image Signal Processing (ISP) as part of our i.MX processor family
- Whole image pipeline and kernel development in C ready to simulate and as reference for R&D to take into RTL design
- Understand and implement control loops for camera sensors (auto exposure control, auto white balancing and auto focus)
- Algorithm specification, optimization, architecture selection, coding, benchmarking and simulation
- Investigate and analyze potential of AI and Machine/Deep Learning layers applied to the ISP pipeline.
- Understand and influence the whole camera processing pipeline from camera sensor to HMI interfaces or AIML for computer vision
- Translate customer and market needs into requirements specifications for internal R&D organizations (incl. HW and SW) documented in a requirements management database (Doors-NG)
- Specify application use cases and performance targets of the SoC/IP under development
- Collaborate with engineering (specification and implementation), marketing, customers and partner teams on architectural specification concepts and details.
- Develop technical collateral for internal and customer use (e.g. application notes, engineering bulletins, pre-silicon feature documentation…)
- Support for new business wins
- Pre and post silicon customer support
Job Qualifications
Skills Required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Information sharing, working as a team player and striving for clarity comes natural to you.
- Excellent skills in presenting complex technical subjects in a structured and clear fashion
- Comfortable working with the ambiguity inherent in implementing new technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills spanning technical contributors, business stakeholders, customers, and management
- Collaborate within and across distributed teams on next gen devices and accelerators
- Professional working proficiency in English
- German language is a plus
- Willingness to travel worldwide
Experience
- 10+ years of Vision algorithm development or similar experience
- Excellent programming skills in C
- Deep knowledge of camera sensor technology and ISP processing needs.
- Strong background in mathematics
- FPGA or IP design experience
- Experience in embedded HW/SW co-design
- Knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Platform Architect or similar) and performance analysis
- System C or C model creation
- Market understanding of automotive and industrial camera processing needs is a plus
Education
- Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar required with an advanced degree
