As a key member of our Risk Management team, you will work closely with risk colleagues in Europe and International to learn and deploy best practices from other regions.
This is a manager role reporting into the Chief Credit Officer of Germany, Austria and CEE and will be a part of a highly motivated Credit Risk Management team responsible for driving acquisition, underwriting and customer management strategies for the commercial payments business in Germany.
Challenges will include developing and designing winning strategies and applications that will elevate Amex to the forefront of small business and corporate financing. The position will require the incumbent to develop new risk capabilities and commercial products & services to drive growth and profitability.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring credit metrics, providing insights for portfolio trends, and executing various risk strategies.
- Closely collaborating with the Commercial and Small Business partners (i.e. marketing, sales and product) and the Risk Centre of Excellence teams to define credit risk strategies for new products and services.
- Designing high impact underwriting capabilities and acquisition strategies to on-board new clients and partnerships.
- Defining underwriting and ongoing customer management procedures for operations to ensure compliance with credit risk policies.
- Developing forward looking acquisition and portfolio monitoring analysis for the portfolios under management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of experience in a financial services organization in consumer or commercial credit risk management function.
- Advanced degree or higher in quantitative area (e.g. Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering) or MBA with quantitative background is preferred.
- Fluent in German and English
- Previous experience working in Germany on Small Business and Commercial portfolios
- Strong understanding of underwriting, credit analysis and credit modelling
- Strong programming skills (SAS and SQL as a minimum), experience with Big Data programming languages such as R, PYTHON a plus
- Good communication and persuasion skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into business insights and recommendations, conceptualize and present ideas to internal and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with capabilities, decision sciences, technology teams and external vendors to deliver solutions at top speed
