The PositionYour departmentIn Pilot and Material Sciences within Chemistry Solutions, we transfer chemical feedstocks for various diagnostic applications. We have a focus on process development and upscaling from laboratory to pilot plant scale. We collaborate in a global network with our colleagues within Chemistry Solutions and across DIA R&D and manufacturing.Your TeamIn the safety laboratory, the current team of three works on issues relating to process safety. In particular, the danger of exothermic reactions is assessed and corresponding solutions for safe production processes are developed.Your objectives/tasks
  • You develop colleagues’ expertise according to the requirements
  • Together with your colleagues, you will plan and execute projects and subtasks according to the goals set, on time, on budget and in accordance with current specifications, including documenting and presenting the status of the project
  • You are responsible for the safety-related testing of the individual synthesis stages, the general evaluation of the processes according to safety aspects, the determination of the thermal decomposition potential of raw materials/raw material mixtures via calorimetric processes and the determination of any resulting hazards
  • Within the scope of projects on chemical feedstocks, you will independently develop concepts for optimizing and safeguarding manufacturing processes
  • Furthermore, you will monitor safety guidelines, maintain your expertise and service equipment
Our ideal candidate
  • You have a PhD in the field of chemistry
  • Career starters are welcome
  • Very good knowledge of synthesis chemistry, process engineering and calorimetric determinations is required
  • Furthermore, you have a good command of written and spoken English
