We are looking for a Head of Retail to join our team in Berlin. The Head of Retail will develop and implement business strategies that maximises retail profit by driving sales and controlling costs. You will also be responsible for building motivated and high-performing teams through effective people leadership and line management of retail staff. This position will also oversee all global retail operations for GATEZERO.
The Head of Retail understands strategic planning, forecasting, planning systems integration and financial analysis. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you must have the ability to successfully meet the demands of a global travel retail business by creating market and country growth plans.
The key position will also be responsible to lead a global team and be accountable for all retail store operation related matters including store communication, airport localization, projects and processes, and new store openings.
GATEZERO is a premium user-centric, multi-category, and multi-brand concept store that speaks directly to the new luxury consumer within top-tier airports worldwide. Introducing new brands to Travel Retail, GATEZERO is a concept store that radically reimagines the potential of airport retail.
YOUR MISSION:
- Overall management of the retail business to ensure established revenue, cost containment, and service targets are met.
- Lead the retail team to take a focused approach to solving business challenges by developing action plans that address specific risks and opportunities within each supporting department to meet or exceed net profit goals.
- Takes a leadership role in the development and implementation of retail strategy and operational plans.
- Manages the store’s leadership teams for improvement and implementation of customer service and sales training to achieve financial and service goals.
- Assists the financial planning team to develop thorough systems specifications to acquire a relevant forecasting, planning, and replenishment system to support the business needs.
- Collaborates with the Managing Director to create and implement a relevant organisation reporting structures for the retail division to improve the overall operational efficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of the business are adequately represented based on their relative weight within the division.
- Works closely with direct reports to develop and implement ongoing performance goals, improvement plans, training and career progression.
YOUR SKILLS:
- 10+ year’s relevant experience in retail strategic planning, forecasting and planning systems integration, and financial analysis.
- Experience in relevant positions in a travel retail environment an asset including Buyer, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Planning Manager, General Merchandise Manager, Retail Operations Manager, Retail Manager, and Sales Manager.
- Strong knowledge of the retail industry with extensive background managing a complex retail operation
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of managing a profit and loss with a keen understanding of the requirements associated with strategic planning, construction projects and cost management
