Group/Division

The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Responsibilities

The process control equipment developed and manufactured by KLA, each referred to as a “tool,” is highly complex. The general function of the Product Installation Engineer is to secure proper installation of a tool at a customer site. In addition, the Product Install Engineer performs and/or ensures completion of all activities required to ensure a KLA tool functions accurately. These activities include: site surveys, pre-installation, installation, troubleshooting, acceptance, training, and the provision of the product for further use.
  • Hold pre-installation meeting with the customer to scope customer unique requirements. Create plan of action to measure/confirm/satisfy unique customer needs. Validate deliverables with customer.
  • Install tool at customer site to meet KLA specifications, through system testing according to procedures. This includes but is not limited to: light source and optical integration and precision alignment; wafer handler robot integration and teaching; camera and collection optics alignment and calibration; system level calibrations and verification; performance testing for sensitivity and repeatability; stability and cleanliness testing; applications verification; and product wafer validation.
  • Troubleshooting complex system issues in a timely manner, using abstract thought, data analysis, seven-step problem-solving methodology and other available tools.
  • Management of escalations across customer and regions.
  • After system testing, meet with the customer to facilitate verification of the tool performance, during which the validation of the tool is performed, to ensure it is properly functioning.
  • Management of customer satisfaction through pre-activity meeting, routine update meeting, escalation meetings, post-activity meeting, and warranty meeting.
  • Perform install/customer-focused applications testing to approve the operational quality of tool.
  • Provide new product installation training to worldwide customer support engineering.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronic engineering or equivalent
  • Panel of competencies in optical, mechanic, electronic, lithography, metrology, and laser technology.
  • High level technical & analytical skills, Ability to understand and troubleshoot problems in software and electronic, optic, mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems.
  • Knowledge of computer theory, various operating systems and applicable operating system software knowledge, networking in a Windows, Unix or Novell environment.
  • Process engineering/ yield management knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills in understanding customer needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and stringent timelines since installation cycle times are committed to customers and may impact customer production.
  • Available to travel internationally up to 2/3 time as part of normal duties.
  • Role location: Dresden
