Field Engineer for Dredging or Construction assignments
  • Reporting of daily activities of a construction crew
  • Cost and implementation comparison of as-built construction activities to the as-bid estimates
  • Quantity tracking
  • Falsework design
  • Coordinate with project foremen and superintendents to write work procedures for activities
  • Hydrographic surveying for dredging operations
Estimating assignments
  • Quantity takeoffs
  • Reading job specific specifications and standard specifications
  • Subcontractor comparisons
  • Engineers estimates
  • Job scheduling
  • Falsework and Equipment Design work
  • Cost analysis

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Candidates for intern positions should be actively enrolled and pursuing degrees in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Ocean, or Coastal), or Construction Management, or another engineering related course of study from a four-year nationally accredited college or university.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license required. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and current registration as an Engineer in Training preferred.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic knowledge of AutoCAD required; experience with scheduling software preferred., Position is primarily a field position, and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.). The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
