THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a data engineer, you bring our audience-building platform to the next level. You will design, develop and run the data infrastructure that delivers audience data to multiple platforms, and you will drive new features such as real-time segmentation or audience forecasts. You onboard new datasets that increase the possibilities to build new audiences closely with our media and data science teams.

The technical scope covers large-scale batch processing, Data Warehouses, ETL, data analysis, stream processing, and distributed low-latency databases.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders across ZMS and Zalando to create positive customer impact together
  • Improve, extend and optimize our large-scale batch processing pipeline
  • Design, Implement and run robust solutions for future requirements
  • Raise the technical excellence of our team to the next level with clean code and thoughtful pull request reviews

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have a solid software engineering background
  • Have at least one year of experience in large-scale data engineering using open source technologies and cloud service providers like AWS or GCP
  • Are proficient in SQL and at least one of the programming languages: Scala, Python, Java
  • You possess solid experiences with large-scale batch and stream processing engines like Spark or Flink
  • Are Enthusiastic about topics like data democratization, data governance, privacy, data quality assurance
