WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are seeking a strong candidate to fill the IT Network Operations Lead Engineer position in the Infrastructure and Operations Communication Group at BCG.
As part of BCG’s global IT organization, designing and implementing network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of BCG’s office networks and end-user connectivity is paramount to enabling the business and delivery of our services. We understand the needs of our client facing teams to solve business problems and/or develop the products used by case teams to assist in the delivery of compelling business insights. This includes the individual products and needed operational and maintenance procedures to allow operations teams to delivery an exceptional experience. We perform a business-critical function enabling BCG to deliver an amazing experience and value to our customers in a cost recovery model. Our services are provided in a secure and highly available environment, developing solutions which exactly meet needs of our customers, and enabling operations teams to be successful from design to delivery, while maintaining the highest level of security and client discretion.
Examples include:
Network Engineering and Design
Design with a Cloud-first approach leveraging multiple SaaS and strategic Service providers
Rapid time to delivery of productized solutions to support case teams and projects
Deliver collaborative network solutions and operational procedures for software defined networking (SDN) and infrastructure revisions to maintain and provide highly available networks
Handle escalations and an ownership mindset and attitude
Development via automation and operational efficiency as a goal
Agile and continual evolution of product innovations
The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for collaboration and open communication.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
Designing and deploying LANs, WANs, and wireless infrastructure technology including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware preferably with automation tools and practices to ensure consistency and repeatability
Provide networking management and support for local office networks (e.g. configure a switch port in the offices, permit some traffic on the office routers, update the router configuration, coordinate notifications for scheduled service or power maintenance, configure an access point, etc.)
Configure and manage network interactions with cloud platforms, including but not limited to Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Support VPN and other 3rd Party connectivity in support of interactions with Akamai, F5, InfoBlox, and other services and hardware.
Maintain knowledge base and ’as built’ documentation for all network services.
Work on a cross-functional team using agile development principles to build and release new features and bug fixes to meet rapidly evolving business needs
Act as main contact to work with product vendor’s customer support and professional services
Work with other internal IT teams such as security, development, and serviceability to resolve issues and release new capabilities
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
BA degree in computer or information sciences or similar field preferred
5+ years relevant professional experience in information technology with a focus on network design
In depth knowledge of Cisco networking to include but not limited to routing, switching and wireless technology
Experience with implementing and supporting global network environments
High degree of comfort with changing and maintaining connectivity for Cloud Computing environments
Scripting skills using Python or PowerShell or Bash or Terraform a plus
Process-oriented and analytical working style with high IT affinity, detail-oriented and quality-minded
Ability to understand and explain technical concepts both in technical and non-technical situations
Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong English language skills
Demonstrates advanced problem solving through independent thinking
Works positively and collaboratively with other IT teams, system administrators, developers, project managers and peers in a team-focused environment
Seeks occasional guidance on unusual circumstances, typically working with minimum supervision
Individually executes and delivers day-to-day work with high quality and effectiveness
Develops and implements operational improvements
Able to define and execute multiple tasks or more complex tasks with timely, high quality results
Proactively identifies and independently solves most non-routine problems by applying broad knowledge
Able to foresee problems within expertise
