We are looking for an
Implementation Specialist (m/f/d)
You will join an international team working at the vibrant pulse of Springer Nature’s journal peer-review systemsprocessing millions of articles. We set-up, maintain, adapt and improve scientific peer-review workflows. We deliver to both, the scientific community and colleagues within the company. We take our work seriously but not ourselves, placing more importance on collaboration and relationship building than on solo heroics. Our mission is to perform together to adapt to the constantly changing needs from our users as well as market-driven developments.
Job Duties
- Introduction of Peer-Review-Systems to Scientific Journals, including Open Access
- Gathering system requirements from publishers and editors
- Set up and maintain sites for peer review system, pre-implementation, implementation, post-implementation tasks, optimization of workflows
- Develop and conduct presentations and training sessions, via online, telephone, in person for internal and external Editors
- Quality Assurance and 2nd level support for individual journals: escalation, supervision, consultation tasks, presentation tasks
- Streamline and supervise vendors’ activities/policies
- Create reports and statistical analyses
- Maintain close contact with all parties involved (Editors in Chief, Associate Editors, Reviewers and Authors worldwide) in the peer review process to prevent delay in turnaround times
- Maintain internal records and documentation (JFlow, Confluence)
- Introduction and integration of new tools and editorial services
- Interface with software vendor (Aries), improve software functionality through wish list items, Request Analysis, Test beta versions, bug reporting
- Experienced Project Manager and work experience in international projects
- Occupational career in scientific publishing is an advantage
- Excellent intercultural skills required for working in a global department
- Knowledge of the scientific Peer-Review-Process
- Excellent knowledge (business fluent) of the English and German language, further languages beneficial
- Good knowledge in the area of metadata, XML, database development, script creation and query languages (SQL) beneficial
- Planning and control - organizational and problem solving skills, ability to prioritize daily tasks
- Ability to work in a global team
- Highly customer-oriented and pro active
