Work Environment

The upcoming generation of automotive human machine interface (HMI) systems will heavily depend on artificial intelligence (AI). Effective, safe, and user-friendly interaction between driver and vehicle is a key aspect here. AI-based driver-vehicle state models need to achieve the necessary quality and robustness for multilevel automated vehicles and to enable situation-adaptive human-machine interactions (HMIs). To account for the latter, the Ph.D. project focuses on development of scalable methods and tools for robustness evaluation and runtime monitoring of adaptive HMI systems. The work will be conducted under the KARLI project which is recently funded under the BMWi program and in collaboration with leading research and technology partners.
