The construction sector is one of the hardest to abate and accounts for almost ⅓ of GHG emissions globally.In Shell, the Construction and Road sector organization is focused on helping our customers in the construction sector decarbonize by offering a suite of solutions that caters to their material, energy, and service needs. The primary offering at this stage is centered around Bitumen product and gradually other offers are being developed and integrated that include Low Carbon Material, Low Carbon Energy Solutions like solar, RES and Low Carbon Energy Management services.Construction & Road in Europe & Africa manages several integrated supply chains, including 3 equity & 3 JV refineries, a JV bitumen refinery and several 3P depots spread across the footprint.We are open to hire candidates from the following countries: United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, or FranceWhat’s the role?This position represents a key commercial and supply chain interface between Construction & Road, 3P Suppliers/Customers as well as Trading & Supply and P&T.This role exists to continuously improve performance and reliability of the Construction & Road value chains across the region, preparing for foreseen changes as well as managing the supply chain through unforeseen events, in line with the overarching objective to maximize enterprise margin.This position is expected to collaborate closely with the Supply/channel optimization Manager, Supply Planners and Trading. Also, close alignment is required with Logistics Managers within Supply Operations, as well as with functions outside Supply, including E&S teams in our core footprint, Commercial, Operations and Pricing/Marketing/Finance/Legal as appropriate.Accountable for driving projects to improve supply chain performance, with a typical horizon of up to 24 months (in line with the S&OP optimization cycle). But as well to be creative and innovative, so challenging the status quo constructively is not only welcome in this role, it will also make incumbent most successful in driving positive change.Accountabilities:
  • Partner with product managers in providing operational input into the existing and new supply chains, to ensure deals and contracts can be operationalized against higher E2E value
  • Defines together with product managers the fixed logistics asset requirements, cost choice points and inventory holding requirements as input to business planning and contracting strategy
  • Partners with operations team leads/KAMs on customer delivery performance management
  • Act as BOM or business development manager for supply chain projects, e.g. new supply chain setup, logistics debottlenecks, small growth projects
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to improve supply chain performance and initiatives related to the physical supply chain
  • Drives continuous improvement of the business based on insights from scenario runs from Netsim, input from Commercial/Ops/Pricing and C&P, not shying away for complexity of the solution space
  • Understand HSSE performance and risk exposure of the supply chain (assess, identify corrective actions, and improve)
What we need fromyou?
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Self-starter and out of the box thinker with sound Communication, Influencing and Analytical Skills.
  • Significant experience in project management strongly preferred, to lead or drive improvement projects and more complex business opportunities
  • Operational experience in supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing, to understand how production systems, work and how these link to supply or value chain (delivery) systems and processes
  • Business development capability, to translate technical opportunities into value propositions for endorsement by Commercial leadership
  • Experienced with continuous improvement, to drive improvements in business and ways of working and adopting active learner mindset towards approaching challenges/mistakes
  • Solid communication and stakeholder management skills, including ability to influence others without authority
  • Technical or digital savvy and comfortable working with new technology platforms, (advanced) models and complex data systems
  • Capable of managing complex systems, conduct more advanced analytics, make decisions under uncertainty, draw conclusions with limited data, and translate this effectively in clear business steer or advice or actions
  • Good problem-solving capabilities, aimed at solving identified issues at the root cause
  • Good communication (written and verbal) skills in English or other languages would be advantageous
  • Strong HSSE background including understanding of supply chain risks, to perform role as Management of Change coordinator
