Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:

The incumbent operates safely a fully armored vehicle (FAV) to transport the Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Consul General (GC), and/or Principal Officer (PO) within the city and the surrounding areas.

Duties

The incumbent operates safely a fully armored vehicle (FAV) to transport the Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Consul General (GC), and/or Principal Officer (PO) within the city and the surrounding areas. Ensures that the vehicle is in clean and serviceable condition and performs minor preventive maintenance.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:


  • At least three (3) years of professional driving experience is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:


  • Mission’s protocol procedures as it relates to the Front Office.

  • Must have knowledge about State Department vehicle safety standards and Motorpool rules and regulations.

  • Must have a knowledge of the location and other Missions, host Government institutions and NGO’s.

  • Must have knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations. Knowledge of in-country travel routes and areas is required.

  • General awareness of the general awareness of the general political climate in the country related to protests, demonstrations, and riots are required.

Education Requirements:


  • Completion of Primary School is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:


  • English Level II (Limited Knowledge) in speaking/reading/writing is required.

  • German Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in speaking/reading/writing is required.


This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Must hold a valid and legally obtained driver’s license.

  • Must be able to operate level C or D armored vehicles with defensive driving skills.

  • Must be able to diagnose and handle preventive maintenance and first-echelon automotive repairs.

  • Must have the ability to detect vehicle defects and report then immediately to authorities concerned.

  • Must quickly and calmly evaluate risks and alternative actions always assuring the maximum safety of the passengers.

  • Must be able to deal with high level officials in a relaxed and competent manner.

  • Must have basic computer skills to maintain reports and for communication purposes.
