Position Title:Senior Application Development Engineer (m/w/f) Elastomers

Position Summary:In this role you are part of a multi-functional global team to identify, develop and successfully launch new application development and product platforms with strategic business impact. You will provide guidance in technical initiatives and aligns them with global market and customer needs. In addition, you will aid in defining new opportunities in elastomer applications and will work closely together with Technology, Sales, Marketing, Legal and EHS in all regions.

Job Description:Your responsibilities
  • Co-leadership for new product platform development
  • Quantification of market opportunity and development of business case as well as identification of investment requirements and development of investment proposals
  • Independent planning and execution of laboratory work in support of customer requests, new product launches, quality complaints and assessment of competitive materials as assigned
  • Support of product introductions, including application testing and creation of technical and promotional literature
  • Close collaboration with marketing, sales, technology and other teams to identify new business opportunities to drive growth for the business
  • Share information regarding local markets, customers’ success stories, new benefits and performance of Momentive or competitive products
  • Independent provision of professional customer support related to the use of new and existing products including presentation of technologies, troubleshooting, providing technical recommendations
  • Development of close relations with customers, project partner, validation partners and distributors
  • Active participation in exhibitions, seminars and other events as well as representation of Momentive
Your qualificationBasic qualifications:
  • Successful completion of studies in a technical degree program (Master)
  • Several years of experience in application development and/or product development and/or technical services
  • Familiar with the use and application of silicone elastomers
  • Ability to independently perform or coordinate required analytical testing, interpret results and draw conclusions for review with scientists and engineers
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment with a strong customer focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills
  • Strategic, progressive and forward thinking; strong problem solving skills
  • Willingness to travel (20%, occasionally globally)
  • Good user knowledge of MS Office programs, especially Excel
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
Preferred qualifications:
  • Technical PhD with professional experience
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Fluent German language skills
