Research Scientist (f/m/d)
Stem Cell Biology/Cardiac Differentiation
Full-time and permanent
Your key responsibilities:
  • Establish and improve working routines at the SOP level for the general handling of pluripotent iPS cells and for cardiac differentiation procedures
  • Create experiments towards meaningful quality control of iPS cells and of their derivatives
  • Develop R&D projects to explore iPS biology and differentiation pathways
  • Maintain an awareness of cutting-edge technical developments and scientific knowledge to improve project performance
  • Research and apply new scientific techniques for data analysis and long-term predictions
  • Lead a team of Research Assistants in their day-to-day activities
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to meet defined goals in time
Your ideal qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Life Sciences or similar with substantial hands-on experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation of cardiac cells with at some years of postdoctoral experience
  • Previous working experience with iPS cell based cardiac differentiation
  • Profound knowledge and hands-on expertise in the functional characterization of iPS-derived cardiomyocytes is a strong plus
  • Working experience in drug discovery from pharmaceutical or biotech industry is a strong plus
  • High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility, and ability to work well in a cross-functional team
  • Keen to interact closely with your colleagues and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and to produce results against challenging timelines
  • Willingness to work on weekends and to travel internally in Germany (up to 10-15%), depending on project progress
  • Excellent command of the English language; German is a plus
