This position is responsible for the setup, scale up and successful management of DB Schenker’s Broker Hub organization.

As an important player within our global team you shall not only assist in the development of a global insurance center of competence, but shall be a key driver of our whole initiative. Your tasks:

  • Ensure that operational and legal standards, SOPs and guidelines are applied. Management policies and guidelines and good knowledge of marine insurance, transport law, sales & distribution, standard terms and international conventions. The activities listed relate to a broader marine insurance approach (e.g. Cargo insurance, Marine liability insurances, Third Party, Marine Cyber, SVS/SPV, NVOCC, additional costs)
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and support of insurance sales in strong cooperation with regional sales and insurance teams, drive change and digitalization across functions to deliver coordinated and seamless solutions to clients and sales- and insurance teams
  • Support Sales, Regional/Cluster/National insurance organization for evaluating risks as well as need and placement of extra marine insurance in accordance with SOP GE05 Customer Contract Review Manual
  • Develop and promote sale of cargo insurance with the aim to increase the sale of cargo insurance to DB Schenker customers, work effectively within the global matrix
  • Support training of local Schenker contacts within the field of marine and non-marine insurance, proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and insurer negotiations where necessary)
  • Ensure effective Broker Hub business management with relevant P&L responsibility, support claims handling & contract review/risk evaluation according to the relevant SOP RM01 and SOP GM05
  • Building and retaining successful business relationships to regional Insurance stakeholders (internal and external), excellent teamwork and inter-personal skills to build organizational and sales capacities in key locations, including but not limited to product portfolio, reference cases, structures and teams and managing cross functional teams

Your profile:

  • You have a degree either in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Insurance Market management or any other relevant field; alternatively, you have successfully completed a relevant vocational training or industry experience
  • Several years experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent, preferably in the Marine Insurance sector, Trade Qualification: Completion of professional insurance qualification
  • You have a good understanding of Marine Underwriting tasks and related processes, including common Underwriting guidelines and wordings and you have the ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify/resolve issues before they transpire and draw appropriate conclusions
  • You have the ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business and customer needs
  • You have a strong growth and business development mindset and you can express ideas and messages clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with the ability to build relationships quickly and communicate at all levels and with a wide range of people
  • You have the ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) is mandatory; ability to speak several European languages preferred and you are prepared for occasional business travel
