For this position, we offer a fixed term contract for 24 months, however due to Lear’s substancial growth, a transistion into related positions is possible.

About The Role

As part of our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team, this role is responsible for financial and technical planning, supplier selection and implementation of Automated Defect Detection (ADD-)-Systems in our regional plants. While the focus is on the initial pilot plants, provision must also be made for implementation across our sites in Europe and potentially Africa. Later this roll-out needs to be planned, implemented and reported.

The role involves leading all activities around ADD-Systems, including: benchmarking hardware and software, identifying best practices, defining Lear standards for the region, leading the development of new processes, technically interfacing with suppliers, creating specifications and communicating with the plants and other central functions, and identifying new technologies that can be used.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Be
  • Work together with Plant Industrial Engineering and IT teams to ensure implementation of ADD-Systems and processes
  • Define all equipment and process Standards, prioritizing the opportunities with the largest benefit to Lear first
  • Communicate Standards to the plants and provide a single source location for accessing latest standards
  • Supplier development – work with Purchasing to develop key supplier partners relevant to Mobile Robots equipment
  • Working together with other departments such as Health & Safety or local plant support team
  • Benchmarking of solutions concerning process reliability and costs
  • Identification of innovations and support roll out
  • Increase Lear internal CE understanding, allowing future internal integration opportunities
Your Profile
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or comparable
  • 3 years minimum experience in a Automotive Manufacturing Engineering role, preferred in a Tier 1-Supplier organization
  • Strong project management experience with project budget control
  • Project management experience, with project budget control greater than €2m.
  • Any experience with Defect Detection Systems is beneficial
  • Affinity for technology and solid understanding of IT
  • High Standard of English language, German language is desired
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proactive and strategic approach
  • Good communicator – comfortable in presenting to all levels within the business
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
