Position Summary

The Project Functional Safety Manager is responsible for supporting BorgWarner High Voltage Power Electronics Products to achieve functional safety compliance w.r.t ISO26262. He or she will work with all engineering disciplines and the customer safety engineering team to mitigate the risk of safety hazard of the vehicle as specified by OEM and achievement of functional safety goal within the boundaries of Borg Warner item definition.

Key Roles And Responsibilities
  • Maintain communication and develop a good working relationship with the customer; establish and maintain the communication link between the engineering department at the customer and the BorgWarner project teams
  • Review of functional safety engineering deliverables (requirements, design, test cases)
  • Review of system safety design
  • Lead / moderate functional safety hardware analysis (FMEDA, FTA) with hardware development team using Medini Analysis Tool
  • Provide technical on-site support to the customer to review safety requirements
  • Responsible for project management of functional safety activities during the product development at the system, hardware and software level
  • Develop functional schedule specific to hardware & software safety mechanisms and track implementation status
  • Primary customer interface to assist with development of Functional Safety Goals and interpret such concepts for the design team
  • Development of Safety Case, Development Interface Agreement and Production Release Report
  • Review Technical Safety Requirements (TSR), Software and Hardware Safety Requirements Documentations.
  • Perform impact analysis on customer safety goals/ safety requirements with project team.
  • Communicate project technical status internally and externally
  • Perform Functional Safety Assessment
  • Some travel and a flexible work schedule on occasion
Job Requirements And Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

Electrical Engineering degree; 5 plus years of experience in Automotive Engineering
  • Experience in eMobility High Voltage Products like High Voltage Inverters
  • Experience with ECUs
  • 5+ years’ experience as functional safety engineer/ manager
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledgeable on FMEDA, PMHF, FMEA, FTA, and Dependent Failure Analysis methodology
  • Well organized and structured
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in German and English
