As senior member of the leadership team of Diabetes Care Medical Office, this role leads the DACH Medical Affairs department in accordance with all applicable Abbott policies, applicable laws, and with best industry standards.

The role is responsible for leading and overseeing of all activities undertaken by the ADC medical affairs team in DACH. The Medical Director DACH fosters the culture of medical and scientific rigor and ethical behaviour across the Diabetes Care organization. The Director is responsible for developing and executing the medical strategy in accordance with the Abbott Diabetes Care business strategy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As the Senior Manager of the Medical Affairs Sub-Function, manages and develops strategies for overseeing the direction, planning, execution, clinical trials/research and the data collection activities.
  • Contributes to implementation of clinical protocols, and facilitates completion of final reports.
  • Recruits clinical investigators and negotiates study design and costs.
  • Responsible for directing human clinical trials, phases III & IV for company products under development.
  • Participates in adverse event reporting and safety responsibilities monitoring.
  • Coordinates and provides reporting information for reports submitted to the regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors adherence to protocols and determines study completion.
  • Coordinates and oversees investigator initiations and group studies.
  • May participate in adverse event reporting and safety responsibilities monitoring.
  • May act as consultant/liaison with other corporations when working under licensing agreements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Medical Doctor with (clinical) experience in diabetes care is required (7 years’ minimum)
