Fraunhofer IESE is the top address in applied research in the area of software and systems engineering, and counts among the top employers in Germany. In our Security Engineering department, we advise our customers and partners with regard to the assessment and implementation of their system and data security. This includes

• eliciting IT security requirements, particularly from company guidelines and standards

• auditing IT infrastructures in terms of the fulfillment of fundamental security requirements

• providing consultation services, designing IT security concepts and providing support in the implementation of IT security concepts

• checking products regarding their compliance with specific security standards

As part of your work on practice- and future-oriented research projects, you can actively contribute to the application and further development of IT security in companies. What you will do

  • You will collaborate in IT security and auditing projects and in doing so will further develop our competencies.
  • You will bridge the gap between consulting and technical integration: You will not only work as a consultant, but also do practical work in realizing and guaranteeing IT security. This practical work can be, for example, the planning, implementation, and administration of NAC, AV, SIEM, or NGFW systems, or the planning, realization, and implementation of measures to respond to IT security incidents.
  • You will explore the challenges and needs of our partners either on your responsibility or together with your colleagues.
  • You will develop security concepts and train our external partners. To do so, you will create the presentation, either by yourself or together with your colleagues, and present it.
  • You will perform penetration tests of infrastructure and networks and advise our partners.
  • You will assist your colleagues as well as external partners when they have questions of a technical nature.

What you bring to the table

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related degree programs or scientific academic degree with first experience in the area of IT security
  • Experience in the area of IT- and network security as well as in the application of relevant standards (BSI IT Grundschutz, ISO 27000) and common security technologies
  • Knowledge of the Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems and in securing and hardening these systems
  • Knowledge in penetration testing of network infrastructures and web applications/web services
  • Basic software development skills
  • Team orientation, creativity, initiative, sense of responsibility, independent and diligent way of working, commitment, and high motivation
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself on your own with new topics and technologies and to continually educate yourself further in the area of IT security
  • Confident ability to express yourself in both German and English
