The Role
Reporting to the Transportation Solutions Segment CIO the Senior Director and CIO of the Global Automotive Business Unit (BU) will be a critical part of the TEIS and BU leadership team. As a key member of the leadership team, this person will be involved in defining the future roadmap of the IT solutions aligned with the strategy of the Global Automotive Business Unit, and shaping further business and IT processes, investments and innovations that truly deliver value. The BU CIO will also assure stability of IT systems and excellence in IT projects execution in the BU.
The Profile
The ideal candidate will be a transformational IT leader at a large global enterprise. In order to have the credibility to drive necessary change, this executive must have global leadership experience and a record of producing and implementing best-in-class IT solutions. S/he will also possess a combination of strategic thinking and IT execution skills at the enterprise level. Beyond excellent delivery skills, the ideal candidate will be a commercially inclined, pragmatic, global business technology officer with the ability to create and articulate real business value through the alignment of technology and business interests. This leader must be passionate about both internal and external customers, while maximizing relationships to optimize the delivery of business results. In addition, this leader must be comfortable with ambiguity, skilled at change management, adaptable, and be capable of working in a results-oriented business environment. This position also requires strong influence skills, teamwork, organizational savvy, and an overall commitment to excellence. Ideally, this person has supported a highly complex business within a global LEAN manufacturing environment.
Short-Term Deliverables:
- Get established in the role with the leadership team in the business units, as well as the senior leadership within IT.
- Build the organization structure and the team.
- Create a strategy and roadmap in support of the business objectives.
- Put together a plan and budget that integrates with the wider organization. This plan and budget will be transparent, and the BU CIO will represent her/his BU within the IT governance structure in a manner that ensures long-term collaboration and commitment of the organization as a whole – balanced with the needs of the Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Together with Corporate CIO, Segment CIO and peers, provide IT leadership and vision for the transformation of TE Information Solutions organization and services to achieve greater business focus, effectiveness and optimal costs of services.
- Define and lead execution of the IT technology strategic direction and roadmaps for Global Automotive Business Unit within Transportation Solutions Segment, including digital transformation, in alignment with the business goals and priorities.
- Set and control IT cost budget for the Global Automotive Business Unit.
- Lead IT M&A due diligence and integration for the Global Automotive Business Unit to optimize business capabilities.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in a global manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with complex supply chain and multiplicity of products.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or Business (or equivalent). Masters preferred.
- Track record of creating a vision and then executing on it.
- Demonstrable success in leading business transformation initiative using the latest technologies – that delivered major organizational impact, particularly in manufacturing and engineering environment.
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity, adept at change management, remain adaptable, and be capable of working in a results-oriented business environment.
