A vacancy for a System Development Engineer (d/f/m) for Test Facilities has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching at the earliest possible start date.

You will join the team “TFlight Control System Rigs”.

The team “Flight Control System (FCS) Rigs” consists of 17 employees and is part of the main department “Weapon System Rigs” at Airbus D&S in Manching. It is responsible for all avionics, flight control and hydraulic test facilities to ensure the qualification and certification of the respective systems. We deliver everything from concept design, development, detailed design and qualification of test facilities up to in-service and operating. We ensure a continuous ready to use and safe test facility of all FCS test rigs. Our main customers are Eurofighter, Tornado and future programs.

For the FCS Rigs team we are looking for a System Development Engineer(d/f/m), who leads and coordinates mechanical development activities from concept design up to in-service. This includes also the qualification, documentation and V&V activities of special Rig Support Equipment.

What will be your main tasks?

  • You will technically lead projects and develop complex mechanical systems such as hydraulic systems, respecting new technologies and standards
  • You define requirements, specify mechanical (incl. hydraulic) components and integrate them into the overall system
  • You define test procedures and user documentation as well as perform verification and validation activities (V&V) of test results
  • Your drive improvement, harmonisation and development projects in an international environment
  • You ensure that test campaigns can be done smoothly and trouble-free
  • You coordinate support to training facilities for German Air Force
  • You ensure full technical safety, proper qualification processes and standards for test rigs including on-site support during test campaigns

This position requires travel such as you should be willing to travel within Europe (once per quarter)

What skills you need to bring with?

  • University Degree (4 years) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equal
  • You have several years of profound experience in mechanical engineering, installation and maintenance
  • You bring practical knowledge in specifications, development and design of mechanical systems, especially hydraulic systems
  • You already gained first experience in technical project lead with different suppliers involved
  • You are familiar with state of the art design drawings, CAD tools (Catia V5/6) and PLM solutions
  • Preferably you already know aircraft systems architecture, especially Flight Control-, Hydraulic- and Landing Gear System
  • You work independently, take responsibility and are able to solve problems under high time pressure
  • English and German negotiation level
