The Sourcing Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for the purchasing area of engineered and fabricated equipment, columns and vessels as well as heat exchangers, including their maintenance and repair. You are the procurement expert for your purchasing area with a strong technical expertise and knowledge, manage the supplier portfolio and work with our stakeholders to ensure maximum added value even beyond the negotiation results. You are responsible for the entire procurement process (source-to-contract, S2C), your tasks span the identification/qualification of new technologies and suppliers, the structuring of order types (spot orders, framework agreements), the development of RFQs and contracts, as well as the continuous improvement of internal processes and supplier performance.
Your tasks in detail:
- You are responsible for the procurement of Technical Goods in your purchasing area for the European sites . These materials are of strategic importance for the production plants in terms of quality, delivery reliability and cost optimization of mainly special engineered and individual equipment.
- You will support requesters in commercial issues and ensure compliance with group regulations
- You will develop and implement joint procurement strategies in consultation with the technical managers of various production sites and global procurement category considering Best Value Country Sourcing
- You analyze the demand and supplier portfolio and define supplier management (e. g. identification, qualification, evaluation, development)
- You will be responsible for preparing and executing complex tenders and negotiations in a European environment, in alignment with Covestro Group regulations including contract management obligations, you process purchase orders or complaints
- You will work closely with all relevant Procurement functions (Global-/ Local Procurement, Tactical Buying, Content Management, PO Execution) and other group departments (e. g. Legal, Insurance, Finance, Engineering...).
- You generate and track potential value contributions and synergies across countries or plants (e. g. savings, effects on cash flow, etc.
- You have a successfully completed master’s degree in economics or engineering as well as at least 5 years of experience as a buyer (m/f/d) or similar function
- You have extensive experience in purchasing, contract negotiation and management, supplier management, technical knowhow for material grades for fabricated equipment and knowledge of legal requirements and procurement processes
- In your previous professional experience, you have already been able to demonstrate your problem-solving ability and strong negotiating skills, you are used to complex contract negotiations in English
- You have a high level of understanding of purchasing compliance and ethics
- You have excellent team communication, presentation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- You bring good knowledge in IT tools (Ariba, SAP, P4U, MS Office,...) to the table
- Fluent knowledge of German and English complete your profile. Another language (Dutch, Spanish, French) is an advantage
