The Department of Statistics at TU Dortmund University has a long tradition
as the only independent department for statistics in the German-speaking
countries. In their research, the members of the department focus, among
other subjects, on Mathematical Statistics, Data Science, Biometrics,
Econometrics, Technometrics as well as statistics in a variety of applied
contexts.

The department offers study programs in Statistics (BSc and MSc) and is
leading the Data Science (BSc and MSc) and Econometrics (MSc) programs.
The department’s study programs allow specializations in Biometrics,
Econometrics, Technometrics, Data Science and Official statistics. Both in-
ternational master’s programs Data Science and Econometrics are offered
in English.

YOUR TASKS:

  • Scientific work in research projects of the working group
  • Substantial and organizational contributions to the planning, im-
    plementation and evaluation of supplementary and in-depth
    studies on topics of the working group
  • Contributions to scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
    and presentations at national and international conferences
  • Participation in academic self-administration
  • Teaching duties in accordance with the Lehrverpflichtung-
    sordnung (Regulations concerning teaching obligations), typically
    4 hours per week in each semester for a full-time position

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant holds a university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in statis-
tics, mathematics, data science, or related fields. In addition, the appli-
cant should have an interest in further academic qualification. Desirable
skills are proficiency in German and English, quick comprehension and
problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team as well as the
ability to work independently.
