We, Cree | Wolfspeed, are looking for an EMEA Power Module Application Engineer for our silicon carbide (SiC) power module portfolio.

Main responsibility is to collaborate with our EMEA Power Sales & Field Application team to drive our power module EMEA market support in corporation with our local Power Module Marketing team.

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support for both existing and new customers as part of global Application Engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced process technologies, forward-thinking products and unconventional system solutions. The right candidate will have strong technical skills and experience directly supporting customers with technical product specifications, product selection, reference designs, system design, reliability, quality and manufacturing process. This position requires interaction with customers at all levels of system design/development, components, quality engineering. The candidate will also be involved in the growth of our regional EMEA application laboratory and help establish it as a competence center for the region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for EMEA Power Sales & Field Application team

  • Be a contributor in designing, developing, documenting reference and demonstration platforms for
    Cree | Wolfspeed’s silicon carbide (SiC) product target applications

  • Assist customer design engineers to successfully incorporate Cree | Wolfspeed’s silicon carbide (SiC) components in their products; provide remote and on-site customer support

  • Answer technical inquiries from existing and prospective customers with proper documentation and timely feedback/analysis through customer presentations and product demonstrations

  • Develop and present materials at technical seminars, tradeshows and distributor training

  • Support new product launches, including training for EMEA Power Sales & Field Application team Provide Marketing and System Engineering consolidated customer requirements to define new products and product enhancements

Qualification Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree with focus in power electronics

  • Good experience supporting customers

  • Demonstrated application engineering skill

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor device technology and assembly

  • Good understanding of power semiconductor testing, qualification and reliability

  • Experience in simulation tools (Spice, PLECS, etc.) for power conversion

  • Self-motivated with a great passion for power systems and power devices

  • Strong English oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in Power Electronics

  • Willing to travel overseas

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, power electronics focus in inverters, drives, and DC-DC converters

  • Extensive experience supporting customers

  • Solid understanding of power module design tradeoffs, modern high-reliability attach materials and assembly methods, and procedures to quantify performance and reliability goodness

  • This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management
