ABOUT THE JOB
This position is a leadership role, managing and Leading the German Country Science Hub Organization. The Leader is assuring the integration and transversal work in-between all the functions that are part of the Science Hub Team (Medical and Regulatory).
The Science Hub Country Head is ensuring:
  • Regulatory compliance and regulatory maintenance of the existing CHC portfolio, contribution to ease and support effective and timely approval of all marketing authorizations, appropriate input on the development of new products, and shaping of the regulatory environment. Ensure claims development, execution, excellence in accordance to the processes.
  • CHC Medical Excellence in Claim development, implementation and external Stakeholder Management. Medical governance is implemented and company/industry standards are always maintained. Promote scientific innovation opportunities across our portfolio through proactive cross-functional working of team members in contributing to global strategic medical brand plans or developing local product strategic medical brand plans that align with brand direction.
This position will be a full member of the CHC Germany Leadership team representing the Science functions and will work in close partnership with the local Business/ ComOps Heads to develop, protect & drive the local business forward (strategic role). This position will lead the CHC Germany Medical/Regulatory/PV/Quality Committee.
Main responsibilities:

  • Building the ability to understand scientific and commercial aspects of our category/brand strategies and work in partnership and collaboration with cross functional colleagues to help shape and deliver the growth model.
  • Creation of a dynamic CHC mindset driven culture that empowers individuals to deliver business priorities.
Leadership:
  • Lead the Regulatory & Medical functions and define local priorities in line with business and Science Hub priorities.
  • Lead and develop a high performing team by developing capabilities and competencies, establishing objectives and development goals for the CHC Germany SH teams and developing a pipeline of talent.
  • Lead the strategy and execution efforts with senior R&D and commercial leaders and their staff for both new products/claims as a well as the life cycle management of potentially any/all regulatory classes (medicinal products, food (supplements) and food with functional claims (FFC), cosmetics and medical devices), by providing proactive input, considering local requirements and local business needs.
  • Ensure advice and input is provided to local business strategies with regards to feasibility, requirements and timelines.
  • Manage the local Regulatory & Medical budget, as well as management of proper allocation of resources.
  • Drive operational efficiency planning and monitoring, including monitoring of activities and performance including submissions and respective KPIs.
  • Maintain optimal resource capacity for performing required activities.
  • Ensure high quality and timely submissions and ensure preparation of Local dossiers (if applicable).
  • Lead the management of Local maintenance activities as required and ensure compliance of the marketed product portfolio.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the Germany Science Affairs team, and ensure the team members maintain and develop their skills and keep up-to date with Science capabilities by appropriate trainings.
  • Ensure appropriate succession planning.
  • Manage talents to unlock the best of their potential.
  • Embed best-in-class capabilities in the Science Affairs/ Science hub organization.
Establishing effective partnerships and transversal collaboration:
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders, in line with the company’s values
Regulatory and Political Environment Engaging and Health Authority Interactions:
  • Build relationships with health authorities, making the company a recognized partner with the agencies and providing regulatory thought leadership.
  • Actively follow the development and emergence of new regulatory requirements and regulatory intelligence, ensuring that the appropriate impact assessment and company strategy are delivered to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent Sanofi by active participation in local trade associations to engage and shape the regulatory environment. All in close collaboration with Public & Government Affairs to assure the global corporate positions are recognized and always drive strategic CHC opportunities to promote self-care.
ABOUT YOU
Requirements:
  • Minimum MS; Pharm D, MD, PhD or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 10 years in Science Affairs (Medical, Regulatory, R&D or similar), including leadership roles, and experience in more than one region or key country
  • Excellent understanding of the consumer healthcare and pharmaceutical industry environment, drug development environment, and R&D processes and objectives
  • Knowledge of the local CHC environment (regulatory, regional indust. Associations, Public & Government affairs).
  • Expert knowledge of consumer healthcare regulations and requirements, HA regulations and ability to evaluate impact of those regulations within the drug development environment and to lead discussions of the requirements and its impacts within submission teams
