Research Scientist (m/f/d): Hydrogen and Sustainable
Fuels for Aviation
in the field of Process Engineering, Chemistry or Physics

Our challenges: 
In search of the most promising technical options to achieve

climate neutrality: evaluation of key performance parameters
of future aviation fuel pathways 

Process and system modelling for production of green
hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) 

Holistic comparative evaluation of liquid hydrogen and SAF
from direct CO2 air capture (DAC) or from advanced biomass 

Evaluation of production potentials, ecological and techno-
economic criteria as well as other performance indicators 

Integrated analysis of energy transition pathways to 100%
renewable aviation fuels and their role in the transition to
climate neutrality, in interdisciplinary cooperation with the
Strategic Research Areas of Bauhaus Luftfahrt 

Communication of advanced insights and recommendations
through journal publications, conferences and media channels

We need you because: 
You have successfully completed your M.Sc. and wish to

obtain a PhD; applicants with a PhD are also welcome 

You bring scientific creativity in combination with quantitative

analytical and programming skills to the team 

You are familiar with renewable energy technologies and

you have proven that you can work your way into new topics 

Ideally you are already familiar with synthesis of fuels, life-

cycle analysis and/or cost analysis 

You are passionate about giving scientific answers to

introducing future renewable fuels in aviation 

You enjoy process modelling of fuel production pathways 

You are interested in multidisciplinary, target-oriented tasks

within joint academic or industry projects 

You are proficient in German and English
