The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

As an R&D Engineer / Master of Biology / Biochemistry (m/f/d) in Interaction and Biacore Analytics, you will support the Bio-Interaction Analysis Team “Functional Assays” within R&D Diagnostics (Diagnostics Solutions, Reagent Research & Design, Antigen Design & Protein Expression Technologies) in the development of new diagnostic, immunological reagents, assays, and test systems. For the analysis of molecular interactions, we primarily use Surface Plasmon Resonance technology (SPR/BIAcore), supplemented by SwitchSENSE® technology and calorimetry (ITC). Among other tasks, your responsibilities will include the detailed, SPR-based kinetic characterization of antibody/antigen interactions.

Your key responsibilities
  • After appropriate training, you will independently carry out the interaction analyses, such as kinetic screenings, detailed kinetic characterizations, or epitope binnings.
  • You will use various SPR instruments like BIAcore 8K (Plus) and T200. If necessary, you will also use SwitchSENSE® technology with the HeliX instrument or ITC.
  • You will conduct your experiments independently, including planning, programming, evaluation, and documentation.
  • The discussion, interpretation, and communication of the data will be done in coordination with the team.
Your Profile
  • Completed M.Sc. degree (FH) in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or comparable fields. Professional experience in protein chemistry and the characterization of immunological reagents, using analytical techniques such as ELISA, spectroscopic methods, real-time interaction measurements, ideally including SPR, SwitchSENSE, ECL technologies, and structural analysis (X-ray).
  • You enjoy working in a team. It is natural for you to summarize and present analytical measurements and results in English, both in video conferences and in person.
  • You have good software skills (Office, Origin, Matlab, Scrubber, Java, SQL, C++).
  • You are highly structured and organized, and you are adaptable to changing requirements in a demanding, scientifically oriented environment.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, complete your profile.
