We are looking for a Working Student to join our team in Schwalbach, Germany, part of an international group of over 50 nationalities who are creating services for the digital world of tomorrow.

We offer the opportunity for a working student contract to work with recent location / spatial data technology. Embedded and contributing to real world projects and application.

Responsibilities:

You will be integrating valuable geographical data sources to improve the current maps and build the maps of the future. With this project, the intern will contribute to the integration of geographical data sources into the HERE products and services. This will be part of the vision of the “Reality Index” and help to embed the available location knowledge in our maps.

• The project will be connected and contribute to the mobidatalab.eu project (further information at https://mobidatalab.eu/ )
• The project will deepen knowledge about OGC standardized interfaces and compliant services (e.g. WM(T)S, WFS, CSW, ...) as well as further mobility data related standards
• Building demonstrators for use-cases, contributing to hackathons and events in the project context, data analysis and quality assessment

You are a Software Engineer/GIScience/Geoinformatik student enrolled in a Frankfurt/Hesse region university, who is willing to take on the challenge of joining an agile organization that is doing ground breaking work in the world of Spatial Data, Location Platform and Automotive Grade Software.

Moreover, you should bring along the following skills:

• Familiar with QGIS and/or ArcGIS (data analysis, map making, …)
• OGC interfaces (e.g. WFS, WMS, CSW,… ) and other Web APIs (data, location based services, …)
• Programming in Python (e.g. via Jupyter Notebooks) or Java
• Familiar with Open Data, especially open geo data
• Documenting and presenting your work
• Open to learn new things, strengthen your software development skills, enjoy working and doing research in a tech team
• Communication skills in English (since we are an international company), German is a plus (since the office is located next to Frankfurt).

Its a 20hrs/week contract for 6 months
