As the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic finance function and business direction of DeepL. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead initiatives related to financial reporting, planning, and data-driven decision-making. This high-impact role requires a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will balance analytical depth with business practicality. Candidates have significant experience leading and scaling FP&A teams in public companies; experience in software, global operations, and managing remote teams is highly desired.
Your responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of financial planning and analysis at the group level.
- Coordinate the annual operating plan and rolling forecasts across the business. Maintain a rolling four-quarter financial planning cadence.
- Ensure timely and accurate budget versus actual analysis and future projections.
- Collaborate with business leaders to meet financial targets and forecasts.
- Build and maintain the Street Model for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop scalable financial systems for predictable and understandable results.
- Create and manage a KPI and dashboard framework that integrates into the company’s financial model. Ensure consistent definition, measurement, and reporting of non-GAAP financial metrics.
- Analyse financial results, including profits, trends, costs, and budget compliance, and issue regular and ad hoc reports to senior management. Prepare and coordinate quarterly board packages for the Board of Directors.
- Lead quarterly earnings processes, preparing financial, product, business strategy, and operational analytics for investor presentations.
- Establish consistent financial modelling processes across the company.
- Work closely with internal and external investor relations teams.
- Enhance and streamline financial planning and reporting processes. Build reports to support decision-making for key stakeholders.
- Monitor external market developments to ensure the company effectively conveys its strategy and results.
- Participate in strategic projects, including pricing, go-to-market strategies, capex investment planning, and product profitability.

- 15+ years of relevant experience, including leading the FP&A function of a publicly traded technology company.
- Experience with software/SaaS companies with revenues exceeding $250M.
- Deep understanding of accounting standards, particularly IFRS and US GAAP.
- Proven track record of driving positive results in hands-on environments.
- Proficiency with financial planning tools such as Pigment, Adaptive, or similar.
- Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams.
- Strong ability to motivate teams to deliver quality work within tight timeframes while managing multiple projects and concurring priorities.
- Exceptional business perspective and critical judgement.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Superb time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
