At Cambrium, our mission is to design proteins that will change everything from the consumer products we love to the way we build the physical world around us. We engineer biology to produce proteins that outperform petroleum, animal and plant-derived alternatives. By combining machine learning and lab automation, we identify the highest performing proteins in the biological design space. Leveraging our data-driven platform, we aim to create a large variety of proteins that disrupt multiple industries.

Cambrium is incubated at Merantix, an AI Venture Studio which conceptualizes, builds and scales machine learning companies. Our company builder network is made up of more than 90 engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs from leading universities. Many of us hold a Ph.D. and have gained experience at top-tier tech companies.

Tasks

We are looking for a Sales Intern who will work together with the Business Development Manager to source and acquire first key customers for our first product in the cosmetics industry. You will be in charge of refining our ideal customer segments and distribution channels for our go-to-market strategy. Additionally, you will use a data-driven approach to design and implement initiatives that optimize our sales process.

Your Responsibilities
  • Source and acquire key customers for our first product in the cosmetics industry
  • Understand the value proposition of our ingredient in comparison to competitive products and clearly communicate it to potential customers
  • Identify optimal distribution channels to reach out to target customer segments
  • Prepare materials to support sales process (e.g. customer presentations)
  • Maintain CRM and analyse data to continuously optimize sales process
  • Assist with project management for our key customers and strategic partners
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-­tier university, MA/MSc/MBA is a plus
  • Professional experience in a high-performing entrepreneurial environment, at a leading technology company or in management consultancy
  • Excellent English communication (verbal and written) and the interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize appropriately and effectively
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to step back and contextualize the problem and its root
  • Entrepreneurial drive, willingness to take responsibility, high ambition and the ability to achieve goals collaboratively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, dealing with uncertainty and building something from scratch
  • Passionate about Cambrium’s mission, sustainability and the field of synthetic biology
