We have an exciting opportunity for an Regional Airfreight Gatekeeper Team leaderlocated in Germany, Bonn who facilitates and supports the execution of an improved global tender process for airfreight product.

Role Title:Regional Airfreight Gatekeeper Team leader

Location:Bonn or Frankfurt

Overall Role Purpose:

Coordinate the implementation of the AFR pricing & RFQ/tender management strategy to support the commercial strategy in line with business objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.

Formulate and implement a pricing strategy for selected AFR opportunities. Proactively support corresponding rate offering for competitive and profitable pricing resulting into winning commercial offering. Analyses and quantifies business risks and exposures to support fact based decision making.

Lead a team, supervise and provide guidance to senior Pricing Managers. Ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports,

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Monitor day-to-day operations of the team, prioritize and assign tasks to effectively utilize team’s resources, and meet work schedules and targets to provide AFR pricing activities and ensure timely, efficient and globally competitive RFQ responses.
  • Guide team members on pricing and RFQ activities and monitor timely and accurate updating of local tariffs.
  • Drive competitive pricing from a global perspective, i.e. stay on top of market developments.
  • Initiate, explore all possibilities uplift & routing options for optimal results.
  • Analyze customer profitability and shipping profile.
  • Contribute to processes and design systems to enhance service quality and alignment with company’s direction and long-term goals.
  • Ensure, that customer requirements and service, cost and budgetary guidelines are met.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of databases with specific information to enable quick responses to specific network queries.
  • Build and secure business relationships with customers and lead negotiations.
  • Periodically review processes and systems to enhance service quality and alignment with company’s direction and long-term goals.
  • Scan alternatives to enhance services and processes to secure cost-effective and competitive prices and negotiate competitive rates with airline suppliers while meeting desired service specifications and transit time targets.
  • Oversee recent developments of new solutions, services, lane and traffic development.
  • Detect issues, benchmark and identify opportunities and introduce best practices for AFR pricing focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Understand customer and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers and key stakeholders
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with DPDHL managers.
  • Extensive contact with other specialist departments
  • Supervise professional level employees.
Your Profile
  • Master’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Business Engineering or relevant field
  • 4-6 years of experience with minimum 3 years air operations experiences
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and platforms
  • Operations experience in a complex global environment
  • Very Strong people and communication skills
  • Executive Management Level engagements
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Deep knowledge of Airfreight forwarding business and understanding of supply chain logistics
  • Understanding of air freight product offering
  • Possess solid presentation skills with both good written and oral communication.
  • Effective time management with problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and supervise the team.
  • Computer skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience applying Project Management skills and principles including scheduling, resource allocation, task dependencies and coordination
  • Very advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced Project Management Skills
