Data & Analytics is a division (DAA1) which coordinates and drives data, analytics, AI and quantum projects across Munich Re. Our ambition is to drive digital transformation and create new business and strategic options for Munich Re and our clients. Our focus areas span a wide range of applications, including automated information extraction, risk model improvements and application of new computational models and paradigms. We drive strategic initiatives, enable and support business & central functions, coordinate activities in Munich Re’s global data analytics community and explores new business models and opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable Quantum Computing & Artificial Intelligence specialist for our Central Analytics team to support us in the development of new quantum and AI-based business models.
Your job
- Leading projects that enable business units to generate more and better business (quantitative and qualitative aspects) using QC and AI
- Identifying and assessing the potential of QC and AI innovations and technologies that could offer potential competitive advantages in the insurance space
- Applying existing QC algorithms on different platforms and develop new business specific applications
- Presenting findings and the systems developed to internal and external stakeholders
- Developing and driving a holistic approach and strategy to QC and AI for the company and the insurance industry
- Networking with existing quantitative units and relevant partners in the QC and AI ecosystem (academic institutions, research bodies, think tanks, tech companies) and close cooperation with Munich Re’s Global Innovation unit to realize new business opportunities
Your profile
- University degree (Master and above) in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Data Science) with a solid understanding of QC and AI.
- Extensive experience as a QC Expert or Project Manager in AI
- Excellent understanding of QC theory and novel QC techniques including their potential and limitation
- Good understanding of novel machine learning techniques (deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing) including their potential, limitation and development lifecycle.
- Embrace innovation, forward-looking, Group-wide manner of thinking and action, pronounced service focus, ability to work in a team, and a very high level of commitment
- High level of accountability, capability to deal with uncertainty and execute in an ambiguous environment
- Experience in the insurance, risk management or financial services industry is a plus
- Experience with solutions architecture is a plus.
- Hands-on programming experience (Python, Java, C, C++) and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) is a plus
- Very good command of English and a willingness to travel. Good command of German is a plus
