Role purpose:
The Principal OEM Portfolio Manager as part of the Device Product & Portfolio Team is guiding the market and vendor engagement to define, plan, develop and execute the Vodafone global devices portfolio for our consumer and business units across EMEA markets. The Vodafone OEM and ODM devices portfolio currently consists of ~21 Mio handsets plus ~4 Mio tablets, 300K Mobile Broadband products, 160 Mio SIMs and 20K connected Smartwatches, from across all major device vendors. These are purchased by Vodafone for re-selling in global channels

- Definition of the device portfolio strategy; leading the roadmap planning and execution incl. major initiatives and events Customers, supplier and third parties
Customers, supplier and third parties
- Deliver best in class stakeholder management and alignment regarding device portfolio and its execution among stakeholders both from markets and the central team functions.
- Shape and manage market governance for all Portfolio/Roadmap items to secure the base for Vodafone to engage the customer base
- Manage interface to markets devices teams, in particular developing a trusted relationship and deep understanding of local business influences in those markets. This includes organising events like the Quarterly Roadmap Review or Country Deep-dives to engage and align the Group strategy.
Leadership and teamwork
- Guide team managing Supplier relations with regards to product specifications and negotiation targets, taking decisive trade-off calls where required.
- Leading the global portfolio planning and execution.
- Evaluate and pursue opportunities for differentiation, guiding Technical Product Managers, User Experience, and Commercial aspects to drive value relevant to market customers
- Influence & align markets’ decision-making regarding terminals portfolio priorities for economies of scale
Innovation and change
- Scout and nurture market specific product concepts taking into account technical feasibility, economic viability, strategic relevance to Vodafone, local market interests, user experience, customer insight & preferences.
- Generate buy-in for prioritised concepts within the business; where needed, drive sign off for implementation through respective governance bodies.
Knowledge and experience
- Analyse supplier input with regards to future developments & trends in order to streamline selection process,
- Initiate and assess market insight projects to influence the strategic development of all portfolio categories
Communication
- Communicate and align on portfolio strategy and roadmap with relevant local and central stakeholders
Apply if you have
- Masters and/ or MBA educational degree.
- 5+ years experience within Mobile telephony / mobile services environment
- 3+ years experience directly related to Mobile products and services, within Vodafone either as Supplier to or (Channel) partner to Vodafone
- 2+ years international working experience
- Background in a complex multi business (e.g. Purchasing, Group or B2B2C) environment
- Passion for cultural differences and understanding the highly diverse needs across the markets
- Ability to effectively communicate to senior market, Group and Supplier representatives
- Ability to accomplish goals in both traditional and matrix organisational structures
- Ability to motivate and nurture a team of senior specialists
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- High familiarity and comfort working with Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel
