The Operations and Risk unit in M (MR) is the hub of all operations supporting our Trading and Origination activities, and Asset Management for Europe & US. The department is responsible for all processes and operations in the Back Office Europe & US, Risk Management, New Products & Investment Support, and the Digitalization Office for MR, MT and MF. The responsibility of the unit is to ensure accurate and high-quality results in all operational activities to support Statkraft’s growth ambitions.
The New Product and Implementation department (MRS) owns the New Product Approval & Implementation (NPAI) process, as well as Incident and Change management process for MR. MRSO is responsible for defining and rolling out a product management framework for all of MR through a thorough change and incident management process with the aim to ensure an increase in quality and a reduction in operational risks related to change and running business. The responsibility for actively monitoring as well as proactively identifying operational risks will also be part of the department scope along with conventional reactive measures. The department is new and needs to be built.
The exact scope and set up of the change and incident process needs to be taken to a formal decision in MR together with the Head of MRSO and the Vice President MRS.
Job Description
As Operational Risk Manager, you are expected to:
- Implement the risk control mechanisms (e.g. KRIs) and risk monitoring requirements in the Operations and Risk unit
- Create and review policies & procedures, risk assessment materials submitted by various units and to analyse the compliance/operational risks in existing businesses / products / processes and systems
- Conduct daily report monitoring and other regular transaction and workflow monitoring to identify possible operational risks and provide recommendations to enhance control weaknesses
- Perform self-assessment, gap analysis against internal requirements
- Advise business units on operational risks and control matters, including coordinate business contingency plan
- Design, introduce, maintain and roll-out an incident management system, targeting the entire Operations and Risk unit and maintain the operational risk incidents / (internal) customer complaints and monitor the implementation status of the action plans
- Perform regular and ad hoc monitoring on relevant business activities and prepare management reports on operational risk related review results
- Handle internal / external review or audit.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree, preferable a master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
- Minimum of 4 years of banking or energy trading organization´s experience, preferably in Operational Risk Management.
- Independent, excellent analytical, time management and interpersonal skills, with ability to prioritize tasks.
- Solid operational experience and understanding
- Experience of managing own reports as well as looser cross-functional project-based teams and drive change also outside own line organization.
- Ability to collaborate constructively with business and functional leaders across departments and hierarchies
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Change and Incident and operational risk processes
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. An additional European language would be an advantage.

Location and travel: The position will be located at Statkraft HQ, Lilleaker, Norway or in Düsseldorf, Germany. Some travel might be required.
