TRANSDISCIPLINARITY FOR SUSTAINABILITY TRANSFORMATION (W2/W3)

You explore transdisciplinary transformation science with a deep methodological understanding and have a strong background in sustainability science, documented by an excellent peer-review publication record in international journals. You are emerging as a central player in a larger interdisciplinary faculty and establish a central hub on transdisciplinary research. We would like to see experience in the implementation and/or conceptualization of real-world laboratories as experimental fields to promote transdisciplinary research that add to existing topics at Leuphana, School of Sustainability. You aim for larger research funding schemes, are well able to integrate and investigate the diversity of researchers under your lead in (regional) transdisciplinary research projects, and you have an already proven track record in acquiring external or third-party funding for such projects.

In teaching you educate students (on Bachelor and Master level) in future methodologies and concrete inter- and transdisciplinary research projects that aim on transformational change and rigorous research procedures. Your teaching experience and research are tenets of future research in sustainability science and beyond, and aim to educate and mentor future change agents in sustainability science. You have a strong emphasis to develop methodological and conceptual approaches of transdisciplinary research at a leading international level and you fill a leadership role on establishing transdisciplinary research in the international research landscape. While your research is radical in its focus, you are deeply commited to a collaborative connection to diverse colleagues and disciplinary perspectives in the School of Sustainability at Leuphana and beyond.

For this position, we are seeking a committed researcher with an outstanding international research profile in combination with a track record of unique ideas put into action, impacting research as well as society. Your academic work gives evidence of innovative contributions to transdisciplinary approaches both in teaching and research and your profile proves your ability for leading interdisciplinary collaboration and transdisciplinary commitment. Specifically, you have proven experiences in the supervision of students (Bachelor, Master) ideally also PhD and consider gender- and diversity aspects. You have initial experience in the acquisition of external funded projects, ideally you have successfully acquired renowned third-party funding on your own.

The professional position will be filled in accordance with pay grade W2/W3 (university full professorship). Formal requirements are based on § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and include a university degree in a discipline relevant to the open position and a doctoral degree in sustainability sciences or related fields; your aptitude for teaching and your ability to engage in independent academic research as demonstrated by the outstanding quality of your dissertation, and additional academic achievements obtained, i.e. in the course of being an assistant professor, during your postdoctoral lecture qualification (German: Habilitation) or other achievements recognized as being equivalent to a postdoctoral qualification.
