Engineering Specialist - Driveshaft competence
The SKF Vehicle Aftermarket (VA) offers a wide range of products to the Independent Aftermarket. The VA Team is responsible for developing the right product portfolio, drive the right market positioning and maximize profitability. The right portfolio requires key Engineering inputs to the VA Chassis Business Line.
The Engineering Specialist is technical responsible for driveline products produced by SKF and purchased products which are traded in the Aftermarket. The position drives the engineering process activities such as: benchmarking, application evaluation, product design, technical reviews with production factories and suppliers, coordination with testing resources and project reviews with VA stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Product development including model and drawing creation, application calculations and develop innovative solutions for competitive differentiation, including patent applications and management.
- Managing the Engineering Change Notice process (ECNs)
- Technical benchmarking and competitor analysis
- Review product specifications and evaluate data for product feasibility
- Responsible for product validation and supplier drawing approvals.
- Work with product managers to plan and develop new product ideas
- Develop initial sourcing and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing organizations
- Support Purchasing with supplier scouting, technical assessments and homologation
- Field return analysis and technical support to VA Quality and Customer Service
We expect you to have/be
- Mechanical Engineering degree and or equivalent background experience
- Several years relevant experience in drive-shaft and cv-joint design
- 3D CAD experience
- Working knowledge of automotive driveline systems and components
- Knowledge in automotive applications and ability to interpret vehicle data
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory

Some Additional Information
The position will be located In Airasca (Italy) as preferred location, on local contract.
Other SKF’s European locations will be considered. You will report to the Engineering Manager – Chassis.
