This key full time role oversees the main aspects of a finance function, also directing the local fiscal function of the company in accordance with MSC Cruises policies and in-line with appropriate financial management practices within the industry. The Director of Finance acts as a Business Partner to the local Management Team and supports the Headquarters located in Geneva and the growth of the Company. Functional reporting to the Finance Department in Geneva Headquarters.

  • Professional fluency in both German and English is mandatory;
  • Bachelor or degree in Finance, relevant managerial experience which includes accounting (German GAAP, IFRS skills), cash/working capital management, cost controlling and contract negotiation experience in an international environment ;
  • Good knowledge of closing financial statements according to the German Commercial Code (HGB) and according to IFRS;
  • Leadership, team management and hands-on mentality.
  • Coordinates, controls and manages the whole financial accounting of the German legal entity as well as the team, composed of 6 direct reports;
  • Supervises cash collection of our B2B partners and B2C customers;
  • Focuses on cost control processes throughout the organization – monthly follow-up of SG&A costs vs budget/forecast for both Germany office and contact center located in Salzburg;
  • Prepares the annual report under local GAAP for the German legal entity;
  • Prepares the yearly budget, quarterly forecasts with the Managing Director;
  • Ensures the timely and accurate completion of the monthly group reporting in line with corporate guidelines;
  • Highlights any potential change in local accounting that might affect the group consolidated accounts under IFRS;
  • Initiates appropriate strategies to enhance cash position locally and in line with the global cash policy of the company;
  • Develops a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism including a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs;
  • Ensures the compliance and implementation of transfer pricing guidelines;
  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of all tax returns for the German legal entity (value added, trade and corporate taxes);
  • Creates relevant analysis and reports to support the management in taking decisions;
  • Enhances and/or implements policies and procedures of the organization to improve both operations and effectiveness of the company, with particular emphasis to the service provided to our trade partners and customers;
  • Is responsible for contract management incl. company insurances of the German GmbH (company-, substance-, & other insurances).VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)
